Class Updates

There will be an Outdoor Ed meeting for all parents of incoming 6th graders on Wednesday, March 8th, at 6pm in the library.
The director Outdoor Ed at Covenant Heights will be leading the presentation. Athe meetingfor parents only, we will go over the facilities, activities, and cost of the trip. It is a chance to ask questions, and get information about requirements. I realize that this seems early, your child still has another semester before they are 6th graders, but there is a lot of planning that goes into this trip.  We hope to see everyone there!

Please make sure your students have headphones here at school. We use them almost everyday and will need them for testing in a few weeks.

Conferences will be held March 14th and 16th.  These conferences will be student lead, so your child needs to attend with you.  Please see the link below to sign up.

Literacy:

We will be starting writing our own persuasive essays on subjects that the students feel impact them personally, such as being able to chew gum in school etc. We will be talking about how students can make a difference in their community through expressing themselves in an effective manner.

Math:

Your student may have math homework. We will be focusing on Dividing Decimals this week.

Science:

We will be working on identifying the states of matter. We will be looking at the properties of each state of matter. We will also look at how matter affects our everyday life.

Homework this week

Students may have math homework this week. If they do not come home with homework to do they can practice math facts online using X-tra Math, or worksheets can be printed off for them.

Always have students read for 15 - 20 minutes a night this can include their book club books. They are expected to be prepared to discuss their assigned chapters the following day.Students will receive a new list of words for spelling Tuesday. Groups A/B/C will test will be on Friday 2/10  Students can access their list online from the Spelling City website to practice their words.
