May 8th Weekly Update

Week of May 8th

only 4 more weeks of school left! How crazy is that!?

5/17- Ameritowne Interviews 2:00-3:00
5/19- Morning with Mom 7:30-8:30am
5/22- All library books are due!
5/24- Field Day 

5/29- Memorial Day-No School

5/31 Ameritowne Field trip
6/2- Last Day with Students

Class Updates
Ameritowne
Our field trip to Ameritowne is on Wednesday, 5/31. If your child will not be attending, please let me know.
If you would like to chaperone for the day of Ameritowne please email me! We need volunteers!

Here is the link to sign up your student with instructions 


The field trip link is ready for parents to register.  The cost of the trip is $26.50 per student.     Let me know of a parent that may need a paper form and we can get them one.  Also, let them know that the link works best in "GOOGLE CHROME" - if it is not working in their current browser have them switch to Chrome.

Follow these directions:
1) Click on "Registration"
2) Click on "Field Trips"
3) Find "PCE-GR 5 - Young Ameritowne Field Trip Registration" - underneath that, you'll see all 5th Grade teacher names...click on correct teacher 
4) Then in the right box click "Register for this class" and then you either login or set up a new account.

If you are having trouble with the link - we have found that it works best in the  GOOGLE CHROME BROWSER.  Other browsers were not working consistently.




Outdoor Ed (Fall 2017)Here is a link to the information about Outdoor Ed. This information also includes a link to be able to register your child for this trip. 


Book swap is this week! If your child brings in their book/books with the permission form the have the opportunity to get "new" books.  Please click  here for more details and permission form.

Please remind your students of the dress code expectations as the weather gets nicer.  


Class Update
Literacy:
We are finishing up our Poetry Unit. We will then look at Professional writing for Ameritowne like cover letters and resumes. 

Math:
We are working on probability. 

Social Studies:
This week we are continuing our study of economics. We will be learning about the government of Ameritowne and our own government. Students will be getting ready to apply for their jobs for Ameritowne. We will also be preparing students for interviews and the skills they need for jobs. Interviews will be on May 17th from 2-3


Homework
This week is finally getting back into homework. We will be having our spelling test Friday. Your student received their list today. It is also on spelling city. Students will also have math homework and will be bringing in any unfinished work that is not done in class.
